What happens to your recordings
Short on purpose.
- What is recorded?
- Only your voice, and only while a practice task is running. The microphone is off at every other moment.
- Where is it kept?
- On our storage, tied to your account. Only you can play your recordings back.
- How long is it kept?
- Every recording for 90 days. After that we keep your first attempt, your best attempt, and your three most recent for each prompt, and delete the rest. Your transcripts, scores and progress numbers are tiny, so we keep those for as long as you have an account.
- Who else hears it?
- No person, unless you send an attempt to a teacher for marking — that is always your choice, one attempt at a time, and you can withdraw it afterwards. Your recordings are never sold, shared or published. The app uses AI to run the practice: the other candidates are AI voices, and your speech is turned into text by AI so it can be marked. No person is listening, and nothing is kept to train on.
- Does my voice leave the app?
- It is processed by the AI services that run the practice, and nowhere else. During a Part 2 discussion your microphone is only sent while it is your turn to speak — it is switched off while the other candidates are talking. Part 1 sends nothing live; only the finished recording is transcribed.
- How does it help the marking get better?
- We measure things from every recording — how fast people speak, where they hesitate, how long they pause, which filler words they use — and use those measurements to check our grading against real students and to build practice partners who speak at your level. It is numbers taken from the audio, not the audio itself: nobody listens, and nothing is recognisable as you.
- Can I get it all back?
- Yes. Export downloads every recording, transcript and score you have.
- Can I delete everything?
- Yes, and it happens immediately - not in 30 days, not after a review. Your account and every recording go straight away.
