This app does not correct your accent.

Malaysian English is a legitimate variety of English. MUET does not award marks for sounding British or American, and neither do we.

What the Speaking paper actually assesses is whether you are understood, whether your stress lands on the right syllable, and whether your intonation carries your meaning.

So pronunciation feedback here is limited to three things: words an automatic listener could not resolve, stress placed in a way that obscures the word, and intonation so flat that it flattens your meaning.

Your vowels and your rhythm are not errors. We will not flag them.

Things we will never flag

  • Malaysian vowel qualities
  • syllable-timed rather than stress-timed rhythm
  • non-rhotic or rhotic realisation
  • final consonant cluster reduction typical of the variety
  • discourse particles used naturally in Malaysian English

What our pronunciation feedback actually is

An automatic listener struggled with these words. That is a hint, not a verdict - a human examiner may well have understood you perfectly.

We use an automatic listener to spot words it could not resolve. That is a genuinely useful signal, but it is not a pronunciation score, and we will not turn it into one. You will never see a number like “Pronunciation: 78%” here, because we cannot honestly measure that — and a number you would trust is worse than no number at all.

If we ever add real phoneme-level assessment, it will be a specialist service that actually measures it, and we will say so on this page.
